New publication offers step-by-step guide aimed at couples looking to dissolve their marriage

Divorce attorney Scott David Stewart has updated his popular book aimed at couples considering divorce in Arizona.

The second edition of “The Arizona Divorce Handbook” gives readers answers to questions about avoiding costly court battles, agreeing on child custody and negotiating spousal support payments, among other issues.

“Few couples think about the legal implications of getting married, but for those considering a divorce, they become front and center,” said Stewart, head of the Phoenix-based Stewart Law Group. “My goal in updating this book was to give them clear answers to those questions in plain English so that they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families.”

The 201-page book includes chapters on questions to ask before getting a divorce, parenting plans, child support and spousal maintenance, how property is divided, privacy and security, choosing an attorney and life after divorce.

A former felony prosecutor, Stewart founded Stewart Law Group in 2004 to help clients dealing with intensely emotional matters, such as divorce, personal injury, estate planning, and probate.

“It’s hard enough to go through a divorce, with all the effects that has on your family, your daily life and your finances,” Stewart said. “Understanding the law shouldn’t add to that stress.”

Prospective clients of the firm can receive a free copy during a consultation, but meanwhile, “The Arizona Divorce Handbook” is available to purchase online at Amazon for $19.99 or can be downloaded for free at www.arizonalawgroup.com/blog/books. Stewart Law Group is also providing free copies of the book to counselors and mental health professionals in Maricopa County to distribute to their clients in need.
