Good afternoon. I am active Navy, currently in Virginia. My ex-wife lives in Arizona where my daughter (14) primarily resides. My daughter has specified that she’d like to move to VA. What would be the best way to start legal proceedings to change living arrangements as well as child support?
Thank you for your time.
Child relocation can be difficult but with an older child I would start with a conversation with the other parent. If they are resistant to the idea, then you will need to initiate a move-away (relocation) case in the home state, presumably Arizona. This process can be lengthy and is typically more expensive than the average custody case.
