Been involved in a case over a year and a half. Paid an attorney for very poor representation; had to let that one go. Now judgement has been brought against me for other party’s lawyer fees. Judge previously filed 3 orders stating other party had to get certain documents filed before a deadline; they were 2 days late doing so. Judge also clarified fees were specific to one motion I had filed, other party claims they worked under 4 hours on that. Judge also refused other party’s motion to clarify/reconsider; yet here is this judgement for oddles of $. Do I have grounds for file a motion for relief of the judgment since judge went against her own previous orders?
Generally, speaking you can file motion to reconsider, but without further information it is difficult to answer. Courts most often award fees when there is a substantial disparity in income or if they feel one side or the other has been unreasonable in the litigation. Of course, there are other reasons for awarding fees but those are generally the most common. If you would like a detailed consultation about your options please call our office and we can help.
