Long distance parenting plans can be difficult but many parents figure it out and make it work. The amount of parenting time and cost of transportation are really dependent upon many factors but it is not uncommon for the out of state parent to receive the majority of all school breaks, including summer. As always, the parents will need to agree or the court will make the determination that is in the best interest of the children. The cost of travel is generally split but it also depends upon the financial considerations in the individual case. Again, the parents can make agreements on this issue to avoid court.
